Introduction To The Course

Race In America is a semester course in which you will dive into different aspects of racism and issues that minority Americans face. This course is designed to not teach the History of non-white Americans- we already know all about this- but inform the student on present issues. The purpose and design of this course is not to learn about racism specifically in order by race, but learn the main issues and categories in which this racism falls under.

You will learn and create an understanding of systemic/ institutional racism and all the subcategories beneath it. You will analyze current laws and major events happening in terms of immigration. You will learn about the way of life of minority Americans. Finally, you will examine your own personal bias and prejudices.

As this class tackles controversial, political, and present day issues, every student is held to a high standard for respectfulness. Students are expected to engage in meaningful conversations and exhibit maturity.
